Customer Review

Prior to purchasing this crib, my wife and I read a lot of reviews about the Davinci Emily. It is extremely popular due to the Consumer Reports rating. We were disappointed initially that we could not find it in stores - it seems to be virtually an online exclusive.

After looking at many different cribs and locating one to see prior to purchasing, we ordered the Davinci Emily. When the crib arrived, it was in a single box in good condition. We did not have any of the damage problems reported by other reviewers. When I unpacked the box, I found it to be securely packed. I inspected all of the pieces prior to assembly and found them to be in good shape. Perhaps there was a minor scratch or rough spot here or there, but nothing of any concern.

It took approximately an hour and fifteen minutes to assemble the crib. The directions are adequate. There are a couple of times it would have been helpful if the directions had referenced stickers on the crib (which side was front, back) and could have saved me some time and annoyance. I'd rate that a small complaint. My wife helped. While I think you could put the crib together by yourself, it certainly helped having an extra pair of hands and an extra pair of eyes. I am a rank novice and very impatient assembler. I did not have trouble putting this together and would rate the ease of assembly very high.

When the crib was together, I found it very sturdy and was quite pleased. I didn't find any additional scratches during the assembly. While the wood is soft, taking into account the price point and the purpose of the crib - some scratching is going to happen.

I would give the crib five stars, but I think the directions could be improved just a bit. The first step, for example, makes it easy to put the legs on backwards. An added line of text explaining what you are looking at in the diagram would be useful.

The crib arrived before expected and took approximately 45 minutes to put togehter (2 people). It is sturdy and well made, we can't wait for the baby to arrive and enjoy it too . . .
